Good Faith Estimate

Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate of Expected Charges

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act and the federal No Surprises Act, healthcare providers—including licensed mental health professionals—are required to provide individuals who are not enrolled in an insurance plan or coverage, or who are not using insurance to pay for services, a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected charges for non-emergency healthcare items and services, including psychotherapy.

Your Rights Under the No Surprises Act:

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like psychotherapy sessions, couples counseling, and EMDR therapy.
  • Timely Delivery: If you schedule your therapy appointment at least three (3) business days in advance, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate within one (1) business day of scheduling. If you schedule at least ten (10) business days in advance, you have the right to receive it within three (3) business days of scheduling. You may also request a Good Faith Estimate in writing before scheduling any service.
  • Right to Dispute: If you receive a bill that is at least more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
  • Keep a Copy: Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.

Practice Fees & Expected Services

At With & Within Therapy PLLC, all therapy sessions are provided by Lisa-Marie Mac Lean, LMFT-A (Texas License #205848, Supervised by Kim Fry, LMFT-S):

  • Initial Phone Consultation (20 minutes): Free (/bin/zsh)
  • Standard Psychotherapy Session (Individual, Couples, or EMDR): per session

The total expected cost of therapy will depend on the frequency of sessions (e.g., weekly or bi-weekly) and the duration of treatment, which will be collaboratively decided between you and your therapist based on your individual therapeutic goals and clinical needs. You may discontinue therapy at any time.
